Share the Spirit

Share the Spirit collects as little information as possible to run the program. Generally this means contact information for families and sponsors.

Once per year all personally identifying data is removed from the database.

Sponsors do not know the names or addresses of the children they are sponsoring: they are provided ages, genders, initials (if provided) and wishes of children they are assigned.

Delivery drivers and wrappers only provided addresses for each package and affiliated children's ages, genders, and initials (if provided)

Share the Spirit does not share any personally identifying information with any outside party

Privacy Policy

The purpose of this Privacy Statement is to inform you about the types of personal information that the Whitehorse Firefighters Charitable Society collects, uses and discloses in conducting the Share the Spirit program.

It explains how we use and disclose that information, the choices you have regarding such use and disclosure and how you may correct that information.

Collection of Personal Information

In conducting the Share the Spirit program we collect data submitted through forms, both paper and electronic. Personally identifying information collected this way may include names, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.

As the program involves children, we collect ages, genders, and, if desired, initials of children participating in the program.

For referral agents - those that refer families to the program - we may require and collect a username and password.

Retention and Security

Personally identifying information collected as part of the Share the Spirit program is removed annually after program conclusion.

During the Share the Spirit program we only collect personal information that is required to enable project participation. Should an individual or party decide, after registering to participate, that they do not wish to continue, we will remove all associated information if requested.

We take a number of precautions to protect personally identifying information including the use of physical hardware authentication devices, security audits, and SSL encryption among other reasonable means of security.

For participants, we can provide all personally identifying information we hold for you upon request.
